LSU School of Veterinary Medicine Confers 128 Degrees

The LSU School of Veterinary Medicine proudly celebrated its 50th annual Veterinary Medicine Commencement on Friday, May 15, conferring 128 Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees. The ceremony, presided over by Oliver A. Garden, BvetMed, Ph.D., DACVIM, DECVIM-CA, dean of the school, included a commencement address by special guest Ashley Stokes, DVM, Ph.D. (LSU 2001, 2003), dean of the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of Calif., Davis.
Executive Vice President and Chancellor James Dalton, Ph.D., conferred the degrees, and Alec Filson (Class of 2026) opened the ceremony. Program speakers also included Clare Scully, DVM, DACT, president of the Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association and associate professor of food animal health management; Sarah Shedenhelm, DVM (LSU 2014), president of the Arkansas Veterinary Medical Association; and Franchesca Caballero, DVM , president of the Colegio Médico de Veterinarios de Puerto Rico. Alysia Cannon, DVM (LSU 2026), closed the ceremony.
