Physical Campus To Remain Closed Wednesday, But Courses Will Continue: Check Email & Moodle

January 20, 2025

LSU’s physical campus will remain closed on Wednesday, Jan. 22, and the Academic Continuity Plan remains in effect for Wednesday. Classes will continue in a format determined by each instructor. Students should check email and Moodle regularly for updates and directions from their instructors.

The Vet School will communicate separately with its students and staff about its operations, and students enrolled in fully online programs through LSU Online should proceed with coursework as usual.

The University Laboratory School and the LSU Early Childhood Education Laboratory Preschool will also be closed Wednesday, and those entities will communicate directly with their parents.

LSU Residence Halls and Dining Halls will remain open, but please check LSU Dining’s website and social media accounts for take-away meal options and any adjusted hours of dining operations. For information on LSU bus service, visit the LSU Parking & Transportation Services website or social media accounts.

Since the weather forecast for tomorrow and Wednesday is predicting snow and freezing temperatures, please stay off the roads, use caution when walking outside in snow and ice, and dress in layers to provide insulation and trap heat. Wear a hat, gloves, and a scarf to protect your extremities from the cold.

Essential employees should check with their supervisors about whether they should report to campus on Wednesday.

Non-essential employees should not come to campus while it’s closed, and non-essential staff are not required to work remotely during the closure. If there is an urgent need for faculty to address a research project during the closure, faculty should reach out to the Office of Emergency Preparedness at emergencyprep@lsu.edu before heading to campus.

Please watch your LSU email account, LSU.edu, @LSU social media channels, and LSU emergency text messaging for any possible updates. Those who have not signed up for emergency text messages should do so at myLSU by clicking on “Personal Preferences” and “Emergency Contacts.”

The LSU Office of Emergency Preparedness will continue to closely monitor this situation. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to ensure your safety and our academic continuity during this winter weather.
